Holiday Traditions

Right before the winter holidays we studied about different cultures, traditions, and celebrations in Social Studies. We had a party where each family brought in a traditional dish that they have during the holidays or other celebrations. Each family shared what the dish was and what made it traditional for them. We had a delicious feast from all different cultures!

Here are Trey and Luke. Luke is showing off the delicious potato latke that Mrs. Anker spent hours preparing the night before!

In addition to learning about all different cultures, children had to learn about their ancestors and their culture. They took the information they learned and dressed a doll in traditional dress from their culture.
Alex's ancestors were Creek Indians.
Trey did research about his culture and ancestors from Lebanon.
Casey did research about her culture and her doll is from Holland.
Cameron's ancestors are from Italy.
Aubrey's research led her to the country of Ireland.
